Paula Cooney
Paula Cooney was a 15-year old kid when she picked up her first bass guitar. Her journey started well before that. “Growing up 45 miles outside of Philadelphia meant she was always in the car driving to civilization. Those hours were spent driving around in her dad’s Cadillac listening to big band, Carpenters, Sinatra, Como, and her personal favorite, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass. There was something about the driving bass sound in these early recordings that spoke to her. She didn’t know it at the time, but these artists became influences for a career that has spanned forty-plus years.”
Paula left Philadelphia in 1989 for the sunshine and possibilities of California. This is where her career flourished, playing a mix of rock, blues, jazz, pop, and alternative music in the LA club scene. Her bands have opened for renowned acts such as Adrien Belew, Dave Wakeling, Otis Brown, and James Harmon to name a few. After 26 years, she left for Dallas Texas and spent the Covid years working on her bass techniques before moving to Northeast Florida in 2022.
Paula connected with June after re-establishing her musical career in the Northeast Florida area. It didn't take long for them to both realize that their adventurous musical spirits would align and playing music together would turn into something special for local fans.
